The morning of a two year old...

Now that Ry is feeling better, we're getting back to our somewhat normal routine. Chris is at his last soccer tournament, which means I'm "single mom" again for a couple of days. I thought I'd share our morning with a picture journal--this is not that far from our "normal" Saturday--especially if Chris is out of town, as staying at home all day makes both Ry an I stir crazy. So here we go.....

6:30--wake up to Ryan walking in my room. She immediately begins whining because if she is up, I need to be up and out of bed and ready to play. "No mommy, don't sit on the couch..."--you get the idea. I bribe her to be a "good girl" by telling her we can get her a new book and donuts if she's good. It doesn't really work.

7:30--set her up watching Dora, eating Cheerios, while I jump in for the fastest shower in the west (south? anyway...).

8:30--we start to get geared up for our first activity of the day--a petting zoo (our high school FFA was hosting at Tractor Supply Co.--it felt VERY small town but I knew she'd love it). She's getting the whole "good girl" thing and wants to get donuts and a new "deigo" book too.

9:00--we're out the door with Ryan very excited to see "aminals"--yes, that's really what she calls them and it's very cute.

9:15--check her out!

9:45--stop by Shipley's along with everyone else in College Station. Decide we should get the book first and come back.

9:55--Barnes and Noble--Ryan LOVES looking at new books and likes to take her time picking them out. Here she is enjoying the "experience"!

10:30--back to Shipley's where the line is shorter, but it still takes 15 minutes at the drive through. She always wants "5" donuts (donut holes). "sorry ma'am, we're out of donut holes". Note the reaction of the two year old, sir.

10:45-- We stop for gas. I tell Ryan that I'll eat her big girl donut (we got just one big glazed donut). She cries and says it's hers, then finally decides she can give it a try. "Mommy!" she exclaimes. "This is a good donut!" (as if I might have tried to make it gross or something).


Thank goodness..........we made it through our morning. Now she's watching Dora. We'll eat something for lunch (I hope that donut didn't COMPLETELY ruin her appetite for lunch in a little while) and then it's nap time.

WHEW! Fast, furious, and fun--sounds like things are back to normal around here!

Mammas, don't let your babies grow up to have croup...

Ok, moms--croup. It's nasty, it's awful, it's forever--or at least it feels like it! Ryan got croup on Sunday and for those of you who don't know, it is just about as bad as the flu in that there's not much you can do about it. It is caused by a virus and it comes with a fever, a cough that sounds like your child became a seal (a loud old mangy one---wait, are seals mangy? anyway...), and all in all, miserable times. Ryan couldn't sleep because this cough would keep her up, so of course, we weren't sleeping either. Believe it or not, this picture was taken on the first day she started feeling a little better--look at those eyes! She was so miserable and tired from not being able to sleep.... Needless to say, we were THRILLED when yesterday she was feeling better and didn't have a fever anymore. WHEW--glad that one's over! (though the grumpiness remains....maybe that's just her being a little bit two?)

Rolla Coasta

We got Ryan this little Roller Coaster for the backyard and I just couldn't resist showing the pictues of her LOVING it! Her little face just lights up and she wants to show you how she can do it all by herself--adorable!

Winter in Texas

Believe it or not, I know what you're thinking. Oh, Kel--you really need to review your seasons....well, let me say that I've not lost my mind--at least not today....I can't really say "never..." but that's another story.

These pictures were from just a couple weeks ago. There's a park near Ryan's school that has these incredible trees and they are just now losing their leaves. You know it was SO FUN to make a big pile of leaves and act like kids with the guise that we were doing it all for Ryan. When was the last time you jumped in a huge pile of leaves? Chris and I realized that was never! We felt like kids and had such a fun time as a family.

(So who can blame us that the next week we went back to do it again!! For Ryan of course) LOVE that girl! She is the joy of our lives!

For all you Northerners, I have to say we were thankful for the weather a couple weeks ago (notice the short sleeves), especially since today the high was in the 30s and it rained all day! YUCK!
